Teaching
at HfMDK Frankfurt

Since 2011 I have been teaching my own cello class at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst (HfMDK) in Frankfurt, which has now grown and developed into a group of fourteen BA and MA students as well as junior pupils. I place value on a well-founded training, including regular concerts, full class lessons and seminars on topics as stage fright, performance training, bodywork and breathing technique.
I also invite everyone interested to visit and listen in my class.

Current projects are for example additional weekend classes on topics such as stage fright, Alexander technique or breathing lessons with renowned guest lecturers. A main emphasis in musical education lays on inspiration that comes from inspirational musical personalities. Therefore we invited Professor Schwab to a master class in 2018 and Daniel Müller-Schott as a guest lecturer in 2019.
2022 Anssi Kartuunen held a three day-masterclass with focus on contemporary repertoire.
2023 Prof. Martin Osten from Santiago de Chile gave a masterclass for my students.

Planning 2024:

  • In 2024 there will be two extra-courses with the cello-class. Isa Terwiesche will come for a weekend workshop about breathing and sound quality in April. A tandem workshop Alexander-Technique with Valentin Keogh will take place in May 2024.
  • Team-Teaching-Format „Commit“ in  Festeburgkirche Frankfurt with the colleagues Angelika Merkle, Stefanie Köhler and Anatol Riemer together with Trio Hannari.

The application period for entrance exams for October 2024 ends on 1st of March 2024.
